At first I thought that "Citizen STI" simply means a student from STI or the students studying in the institution, but I was wrong, when I heard it from the (National Youth) convention. Something inspires me when I listened to the speaker that was talking all about CITIZEN STI. I have attended several seminars and talks but this one is different. It was delivered well by the speaker and all of the students were attentively listening to it, thanks to him I have learned a lot on his talk, like the 7 factors of a Citizen of STI.
He described Citizen STI as a call for the students or the people in the institution to CHANGE and in order for us to do it there are 7 simple factors to follow.
First, absorb knowledge for future reference. This implies that we must put it in mind the things that we learned because in the near future it would help us a lot in surviving the challenges in the outside world or in the profession we chose.
Second, moving through autonomy towards interdependence. This means that we must be responsible for our own actions and not blame others. Even though you know that it's your fault.
Third, developing mature interpersonal relationship. You must be considerate to others and be respectful to others. In order for us to change, we must start within ourselves.
Fourth, knowing who you are and knowing your capacities. This requires us to know who we are because how could we teach or impart change if we don't know who we are and identify the things that hinders us to change.
Fifth, developing purpose, dream and goal are different. Dreams are the things you want to become in the future, while goal is something you want to achieve in the future. In order for us to change we must set our goals in order for us to know if we are improving or not. This will also help us to gain confidence for which we knew that we could do it and we could achieve it soon.
Sixth, developing integrity. How would we impart others to change if we ourselves are not sinking it to our hearts to change? We must be true to our words in order for others to follow.
Lastly, develop competence. We must be competitive because we will never know what will happen next. We must be ready for any challenges that we will take for us to succeed.
With these 7 factors it could help ourselves to attain change and by slowly practicing these factors we could make a difference. I'll leave you with a simple quote that the speaker impart us to ponder on, "You are your investment. You can make a difference."
