SolidWorks Innovation Day

I went to Solidworks Innovation Day 2011 held at Parklane Hotel, Cebu City. It was a product presentation on the latest efforts of innovation by the company.
The presentation is an overview of the
SolidWorks Premium 2011 and its complementary products. It is described as the ultimate tool to design, validate, communicate and manage 3 dimension computer aided design models. The design tools have efficient part, assembly, and drawing capabilities with built-in simulation, routing and image/animation creation which in effect makes the management of product data and the sharing of design ideas faster, simpler, and smarter.

The presentation really amazed me, since it is in 3 dimensional and you can see the detailed design by just clicking any area on the screen to make the image move, and rotate according to your manipulation.  The software has detailed information on the part that has to be modified, enhanced and calculated.

This is one solution that tackles all design challenges. SolidWorks product intends to improve productivity and innovation with ease of use. It has a very powerful functionality and world-class support in one package.  It further aims to cut the design time, improve collaboration of the design team and reduce manufacturing costs. Thus, marketing will be able to present to the clients the design without having to carry a heavy proto-type.

The software enables part and assembly modellng in 3D parts with complex geometries, assemblies and related drawings. Advanced surfacing capability can create and edit complex solid and solid geometry, including stylish, C2 surfaces.  A designer can quickly design and fully document welded structures composed of structural members, plates, gussets and mold base components. Other part and assembly capabilities are: Large Assembly Capability; Sheet Metal design; Mold design and Piping/tubing design as well as Electrical cable/harness and conduit design.
This software provides design engineers easily communicates through the visuals they can create and make life easier as the animations and photo realistic renderings provides realistic images and virtual walk through with the design.
Enabling a virtual testing of the product in a simulated environment reduces physical prototypes, that can save money for the company and ensure that the design can be manufactures correctly the first time.
